@mike smith That is a great question. Denial is a strong force. Fear of the
    unknown. Fear of an amputation.

+stink stinky Wound vac increases the speed of granulation tissue growth.
These should not be placed on pus. The suction along with the actual
    dressing sponge play a role.

    • +Dr. Gennady Kolodenker, DPM, AACFAS Dear Dr Gennady – my father is
currently undergoing vac therapy on a two foot founds due to diabetic foot
in cleveland. We are planning to go home to cairo egypt where we live to
continue wound therapy – we wanted to know if there is a list of registered
nurses or technicians that are VAC Specialists that we could consult or
have do therapy while back home – somewhere in the middle east or european
region- where can we go about finding such specialists or nurses – KCI
Agents ? a nursing organization ? your help would be appreciated.

+Dana Moussa best thing to do is contact your local hospital. I’ve also
      consulted via Skype.

    • +Dr. Gennady Kolodenker, DPM, AACFAS Awesome work sir!!

  4. Excellent technique. This was very useful to me as a newly graduated RN.
    Thanks!!

  5. First off all U have a sterile foam placing all over the place killing its
purpose, secondly u bridge and place the vac pad top of foot and thirdly it
    is -125 mm of hg.

  6. John Papaioannou

Why not build a bridge on top of the foot where the vac line is on top of
the foot! Patient won’t have to step on it!

    • Gennady Kolodenker

+John Papaioannou You could do that, but that makes it easier to walk on
this. The goal of diabetic ulcerations is offloading. By making it more
difficult to walk on, we are increasing compliance level and chance of
      healing.

  7. The look on the patience face @ 4:30 made me through out my soda… cya
later 12 pack of soda that I just bought today – i need to smarten up. The
fact that he was younger than what I assume is his mom is a real wake up
call to me. And the fact that he is skinny, i’ve heard diabetes is linked
to obesity, clearly that is not the case.

  8. Hi Dr. Kolonder. I’M A surgeon from latín América interested

  9. This is great. I’m a RN and damn it kills me everytime applying the
adhesive. Missed the aim one time and that’s it.

  10. Carly-Jay Metcalfe

I’d love to see the removal of the dressing. This is great!

  11. Wow! that is scary I feel bad for this patient.

  13. Hi Dr. Kolodenker, I would like to know how long did it take for the
    patient to recover?

  14. Is it not necessary to place drape under the bridge to protect the good
    skin?

  15. nissa somantri

Doc, you apply the VAC drape on toes for preventing the maceration. Is
there possibility of maceration for doing that? cause when I used gauze for
covering toes then VAC drape, when I opened, there was maceration. Do you
have the progress of that wound? how long he used VAC for his wound? your
    trick is useful.
    Thank you, doc.

  16. Hello Dr. Kolodenker.
Why don’t you cover normal skin under bridge because it could be damage by
    negative pressure ?

  17. How can diabetes cause such a horrific wound like that?!

  18. one person who was opening in your sole and you can see the bones he has
hope to walk etc…. with the help on vac? plz dr. answer me
